Dehns Partner Rob Jackson was invited by renowned legal commentator Joshua Rozenberg to share his expertise on the Unified Patent Court in the latest episode of A Lawyer Talks.

In this insightful discussion, Rob discusses his appearance before the UPC’s Paris Central Division in the oral hearing of its first case. He explains how, despite the UK not being a member, its proceedings are largely in English, are grounded partly in English legal principles, and involve many UK lawyers – including Dehns’ UK-qualified attorneys, who actively conduct litigation before the court.

Rob also examines why the UK stepped away from the UPC before it opened, the implications for British businesses, and whether rejoining could deliver a significant benefit to the UK.

A must-listen for anyone interested in patent litigation and cross-border IP strategy!
