Richard is a Patent Attorney handling patent work in high technology fields. He qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2022, a UK Chartered Patent Attorney in 2023, and a UPC representative in 2024. Prior to working for Dehns, Richard obtained extensive technical knowledge through completion of a PhD at the University of Cambridge, following a master’s degree in physics at the University of Southampton.
Richard works with a variety of clients, primarily on obtaining patent protection through drafting and prosecution of patent applications before the UK and European Patent Offices, as well as in various other jurisdictions including the USA. However, Richard also has experience in contentious matters, and advice work relating to other aspects of patent law.
Richard works on cases covering a variety of subject matter within physical sciences and engineering. He has particular experience working on computer-implemented (software) inventions, as well as on inventions relating more broadly to electronics, computing, and scientific instruments.
