Dehns has today announced the appointment of its first female Senior Partner, Elizabeth Jones.
Elizabeth joined Dehns in 1993 and was made Partner in 2001. She holds several Chemistry and Biochemistry related degrees and is a senior member of Dehns’ Life Sciences and Biotechnology group. Elizabeth has served as Dehns’ Managing Partner since 2014. On this new appointment Elizabeth says: “I am delighted to have been elected to Senior Partner by my fellow partners. It has been an honour to serve as Managing Partner at Dehns and I am immensely proud of what we collectively continue to achieve thanks to the energy, dedication, teamwork and expertise of so many colleagues. My key focus as Senior Partner is to preserve the very best of our culture and our award winning standards of client service, whilst continually working on new ways to assist our clients and address their needs. I look forward to leading the firm into the next chapter of its long history”.
Elizabeth is the successor to Alex Piésold who was elected Senior Partner in 2015 and has overseen the growth and continued development of the firm. Over this time the firm has put significant focus on nurturing its culture, on becoming a more inclusive and innovative organisation, advancing its responsible business and sustainability goals and expanding and offering new services to its clients. Having both successfully navigated the business through opportunities and challenges, particularly those presented by the pandemic, Alex says: “I am thrilled Elizabeth will be taking up the role of Senior Partner. Her reputation with clients is exceptional and she combines this experience with significant knowledge of the firm from her time as Managing Partner. She brings drive and integrity and is ideally equipped to be the firm’s first female Senior Partner”.
Taking up the role of Managing Partner is Adrian Samuels. Adrian joined Dehns in 1995 and became a Partner in 2003. Adrian has significant experience advising clients on commercially-focused strategies for building IP portfolios and maximising company value and growth. Adrian, who has been a member of Dehns’ Management Board for several years and headed up its Oxford office as it has grown from a handful of people to over 30, comments: “I consider it an enormous privilege and an exciting challenge to be taking on this responsibility. I look forward to helping Dehns remain agile and to embrace new ways of working in our ever changing world whilst continuing to deliver outstanding value to our clients.”
