Neil is a European and UK Chartered Patent Attorney and a representative before the Unified Patent Court. He graduated with a First Class Honours Degree from the University of Oxford, in Natural Sciences (Chemistry). His degree included a year of research in sugar chemistry. He joined Dehns in 1995, was made a Partner in 2003, and handles patent work in a wide range of chemical fields.
Neil has over 20 years of experience in preparing European oppositions and defending European patents under opposition, having represented his clients in hundreds of opposition and appeal cases.
He routinely attends EPO opposition and appeal proceedings, averaging 15 to 20 cases per year, more recently adapting his skills to the current video conference format. Working for clients such as Borealis AG and Jotun A/S, he is comfortable with handling a range of technology areas from polymers to paints to pharmaceuticals to food technology.
Neil has also been involved in parallel proceedings around the world, with a particular focus on Oppositions and litigation in far East.
Neil has been recognised as an IP Star and works with his clients to achieve the desired outcome.
