Andrew Griffiths

Trainee Patent Attorney

Background

Andrew joined the Dehns Brighton office in September 2024 as a Trainee Patent Attorney, having graduated from the University of Oxford in 2024 with an MChem in Chemistry.

Andrew spent his final year of university working for the Neidig Group, where he focussed on the chemistry of low-valent iron organometallic complexes. Andrew’s work with the Neidig Group inspired his undergraduate thesis entitled ‘The Synthesis and Reactivity of Low-Valent Iron Alkene and Alkyne Complexes’. Andrew’s work required the use of 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy to both assess iron speciation in-situ, and assist with assignment of the iron species present after reaction. X-ray crystallography was also used to elicit the crystal structures of the complexes synthesised.
