Showcasing the best in innovation - Venturefest Oxford 2016
Venturefest Oxford 2016
Now in its 18th year, Venturefest Oxford 2016, held on 29 June, was bigger and better than before with a host of opportunities for innovators and entrepreneurs to connect with advisors and help their businesses grow.
Dehns was delighted to be exhibiting and supporting the event which hosted practical and interactive sessions on funding, protecting IP and identifying future innovation. Philip Webber, Dehns Partner in our Biotech patents group, was part of the exciting programme by co-hosting a seminar on ‘Intellectual Property and how to maximise IP’. It was great to be able to offer advice and network with so many promising ventures.
The innovative spirit of the day was captured perfectly in the ‘Pitching for Success’ competition that saw 20 companies present their business ideas to an expert panel and audience. The overall winner of the prize package, that included £1,000 and intellectual property advice from Dehns, was Dry Gro. Congratulations to Dry Gro and we look forward to working with you.
Congratulations must also be given to the winners of our ‘Nerves of Steel’ steady hand game. Mark Gregory and Paul Horseman have each won a bottle of champagne for holding their nerve and beating the buzzer in the fastest times.
Overall Venturefest Oxford 2016 was a fantastic event which remained positive about new business in the wake of Brexit. Adrian Samuels, Partner in the Engineering Group, was even interviewed by BBC Oxford giving his thoughts on the day.
