Dehns’ Munich office was established in 1999 to meet the growing demand for Dehns’ IP services and as part of Dehns’ strategy to be located in a key technology hub within mainland Europe. Munich is the third largest city in Germany, one of the most prosperous and fastest growing cities in Europe, and is a major centre of advanced technologies.
Dehns’ Munich office is situated in close proximity to the European Patent Office (EPO) and handles a substantial portfolio of European patent work, including drafting patent applications and patent prosecution as well as coordinating litigation. Dehns’ Munich patent attorneys are European patent attorneys and frequently represent clients during EPO Oral Proceedings.
The office has particular strengths in patenting inventions relating to electronics, IT, Communications and mechanical engineering fields, as well as fields relating to physics, materials science and medical devices. The Munich office also provides trade mark advice to clients from a wide range of sectors.
In 2013, Dehns established Dehns Germany, a partnership between Dehns and KGP, an experienced group of German patent and trade mark attorneys. Dehns Germany was established to better support clients in preparation for the UPC, and now provides a one-stop shop, not just for European, German and British patent, design and trade mark filing and prosecution, but also for advising in the current national litigation environment in addition to that of the upcoming UPC.
