The European Patent Office (EPO) has announced its normal biennial increase in the official fees charged for European patent applications. These increases take effect from 1 April 2016.
Unlike previous fee increases, this year's increase is relatively modest with most fees increasing by approximately 1% and fees under 250 Euro remaining fixed at current levels. In particular, the filing fee and the excess page fee due on filing (currently 15 Euro per page over 35) are not increasing.
Dehns will endeavour to pay any relevant official fees at the current rates provided we receive your instructions in good time before 1 April 2016. However, in many cases the cost savings to be made by taking action before 1 April 2016 will be relatively small.
If you require any advice on how the new fees will affect your applications, please contact us.
